This is my own category from both doing charts and studying acupuncture. Chinese medicine divides the world into yin and yang. Yin is passive energy and yang is active energy. I started applying this to charts. Some placements are yin–acted upon. Some are yang—DOING the action.

I will give examples and hope to make this clear. I referenced active and passive placements in my last articles. My readers are so brilliant that I was asked to explain this more. Hence, this article.

Let’s start with the male. He goes after the female. The sperm impregnates the egg. The man is the dominant force.(Please, don’t go all politically correct on me. This is not about that subject) In nature, there are those that DO actions and those that receive actions. Hence, that is the essence of the yin and the yang.

I applied it to the astrology chart. I would see how one asteroid, for example, manifested differently when conjunct different planets. A classic example is Venus Conjunct Chiron. Venus is a yin planet. Hence, Venus finds pain when she is in love.

Take Mars. Mars is a yang planet. He GIVES pain when Chiron is conjunct Mars. I learned this by doing charts and seeing how things played out.The charts should, always, be the teachers. One needs to do thousands of charts to see patterns. That is my opinion and experience.

Let me tell you which planets I call yang——the Sun, Pluto, and Mars.

I call these planets yin—-the Moon and Venus.

I call Mercury neutral.

I am not sure about Saturn, but it is, likely, yang

I am not sure about Neptune, although, it is likely yin.

I am not sure about Uranus, although it is likely yang.

I have not put the asteroids into this classification.

With the angles, the Ascendant and MC are yang. The IC and Descendant are yin.

Let me provide some examples of how this would work. If we find a strong asteroid, such as Nessus, likely yang, although I have not classified asteroids, we can see how it would manifest with various planets and angles.

Nessus conjunct Venus is likely a person who attracts abuse. Nessus conjunct Mars is, likely, a person who GIVES abuse. Nessus conjunct the Sun is likely a person who gives abuse. Nessus conjunct the IC is,likely, a person who suffered abuse. Nessus conjunct the MC is, likely, a person who gives abuse.

I was asked this question by a lovely lady, Eva, in my Pluto group. I am not sure if she meant in the natal or synastry. I will assume it is the natal. This is an excellent question. With no further adieu, onto the subject.

When we are talking about Astrology, we are really talking about ENERGY. If one can think on the level of energy, Astrology will become clearer. I studied acupuncture, which is the energy of the body. I study quatumn physics( the simplified versions). I have had Out of Body experiences. In these incidents, one’s body is experienced as energy. After one awakes, one feels a tremendous sense of well being and a very much increased physical and mental energy

I say this to say that Astrology will make much more sense if you study some of the above subjects. YOU are an energy body. The planets are energetic forces.The ASPECTS show easy and harmonious flow of energy or a thwarting, struggling of thwarted flow of energy.

Each planet is a different SPHERE of energy. Venus is love energy. Mars is drive and passion energy. The Sun is ego energy. The Moon is heart/emotional energy. Mercury is mind/intellectual energy. Saturn is restrictive, disciplined and critical energy. Jupiter is bountiful energy. Neptune is both creative and fogging/deceiving energy. Pluto is primal passion energy. Chiron is painful energy.

I hope you are following my train of thought as we come to aspects. The trine is a harmonious flow of energy, such as how it feels when one has a belly laugh. The opposition is back and forth energy. It goes from one pole to the other. Think of moods. Some people are super happy one day and super sad the next. They don’t seem to have a middle point. That is the nature of the opposition. It is a back and forth motion, in the manner of a see-saw. There is, really, no comfortable middle. Hence, if one has a Venus/Saturn opposition. One may want love very badly but one may be too self critical. It may hurt badly to think one has to be perfect to be loved. Hence, one reaches out for love and then pulls back.Over and over, one reaches out for love and then pulls back. This is the nature of the opposition. You can apply it to every planet.

I will give another example. If one has a Sun/Pluto opposition. One may struggle to incorporate primal passions into one’s ego. However, it is very hard to do. One may feel overwhelmed by primal passions, when one is angry, for example. One may throw a lamp at someone,for example. Then, one may recoil and try to keep primal passions in check. Then, the primal passions build up because no energy can be pushed away and stay pushed away. Then, if someone says something hurtful, one may react too violently. Hence, there is an up and down movement, over and over and no middle.

With the square, we have a much more difficult situation. The energy is blocked or thwarted.Some people disagree on this, but I do not believe one can change a square. I think it is “stuck” energy, but one can work around it by building up positive aspects in the chart. If you have a big nose and pretty eyes, like Barbra Streisdand, focus on your eyes and magnify them and you will be beautiful( even if your politics are atrocious). Angelica Huston is another example of someone with lovely eyes and a big nose. One does not notice the nose because the eyes are so very beautiful.

I know people would like some examples of the square, so I will provide some. Sun square Pluto is classic for someone who lets anger fester and fester and then explodes in some manner Moon square Chiron is classic for someone whose pain hurts so badly that it gets buried. There may be a strong dislike of women and one’s own feminine side. Moon square Pluto is someone who has very deep primal passions but does not know how to let them go in a healthy way. They, likely, fester until they either blow or come out in some other nonproductive way. I hate being politically correct. OK, they fester until you become Jack Nicholsen in “The Shining”.

I made a pact with the devil: a pact I tried to resist. Resisting was all I thought about in those days. I was very smart then, not like I am now—dull and easily deceived. Then, I was lightning fast. If you could see some of my recent acts of stupidity, you would not believe it was me. I was born strong. I would be dead if I wasn’t.

I like to take long routes, verbally.That is because words are beautiful. Words give you fluidity, a place to hide. That is why I love them, one reason. The other is that they saved me.

How I made the pact with the devil; that is what you want to know, isn’t it—- prurient interest. The devil comes as an angel of light. Once someone told me that Yassar Arafat was the devil. I laughed at that stupidity. That is, just, what the devil wants you to think: that he is some ugly, Muslim terrorist. No, the devil is anything but an ugly Muslim terrorist. The devil is anything you want him to be. Remember that.

I was someone who tried to hold onto herself, like you would hold onto your hat in a strong wind. Once I was in a strong wind. I was coming out of a designer store onto a skyscraper walkway. There were pools on each side and I thought I might fly. The wind could have taken me like some ungainly witch. I was still me then, however. It was better than later when there was no wind and no pools and I was dead .That is the nexus of the story.

When I was dead, the devil had easy pickings. He circles and attacks the carcass. I remember the moment when the fog pulled me in. The fog immovable became my constant companion, not that I wanted him. He was my captor. He wanted to be my friend, if you could call it that. I came to want him, too,in a way. He made me do strange things, things that had no bearing on who I was. He didn’t like that I asked that question, cared about it—— banal trivialities.

I must have an angel because I should have died a thousand times. My angel must be on the ball like I used to be. I am still here, but I am half covered by a blanket which suffocates my head, so that my lips turn blue. You wouldn’t notice, unless you looked closely. What do I want to say? Make the fog break you before you go with him, willingly. Don’t trust him. Make him die, if it comes down to it, and never, ever, ever, ever feel sorry.

Venus is that which we love: that which we find attractive and pleasing, quite simply our TASTES. If you want to find that which a person finds attractive, really study his Venus sign. You have to understand the meaning of the 12 signs. Each one is very different. Each one is like a different animal. A zebra is very different from a cow. A dog is very different from a giraffe. Some people think cows are beautiful and hate cats. Some people love dolphins and hate elephants. Each person has very different tastes. Venus teaches us about the tastes of anyone to
whom we have interest. Let’s study some of the Venus signs. I will concentrate on what they find attractive.

Venus Signs—Taste

Venus in Aries

This Venus likes things that are bright and eye catching— FAST and snappy. He likes instant gratification. This Venus would, likely, have to be attracted to you at first sight. Also, he will,likely, make a mad dash for you from across the room. I can see this Venus falling in love( so to speak) with a picture. However, with the Venus in Aries men, after the initial chase, they want you to chase them, which can make for a lot of confusion because he may go from Attila the Hun to Mister Rogers. The females are the most aggressive of the female Venus signs.

Venus in Aries would like a RED sports car–the brighter the better. He would like a girl who is athletic or, at least, adventurous. I picture Pamela Anderson in her red Speedo .He likes to do exciting activities like sky dive. His home is probably brightly decorated. It may have simple lines, such as Ikea. His home is, likely, not his castle. His life is more likely lived in the exciting outside world.

Venus in Taurus
This Venus is in it’s Home. That means he does” love well”,so to speak. He has excellent taste in everything, from the opposite sex to toothpaste. He is a refined person and likes his partners to be, as well. This Venus does not like coarse humor or off color jokes. His tastes are simple. He, likely, appeciates furniture with refined lines and clothes that are in good taste. This Venus focuses on the inner person, so be as good as you can be( and be well mannered).

Venus in Gemini

This is me. We love words and we are flirts. This Venus likes light things, from furniture to humor. My house is all bright colors and flower prints. You feel as if you are in a garden. Venus in Gemini is stylish and likes partners who have some sense of style. They don’t need to be a model for GQ, but they can’t wear black shoes with white socks, either. Venus in Gemini loves intelligence and wit like a sugarholic likes Ding Dongs. She will fall in love with your mind, so if this is not your strong suit, you may need to look for another Venus, like Aries, who wants to drive your sports car.

Venus in Cancer

This is a rather rare Venus sign, from my experience. Donald Trump, one of my role models, has it. He is classic for loving his children, which is a hallmark of this sign. Venus in Cancer loves all things that have to do with the home. He/She is attracted to people who have a warm heart. This may not be immediately evident but the heart is what is in play for this Venus. He wants to curl up with you and forget the world.

Venus in Leo

This Venus defines “glam”. He/She wants an attractive partner. Looks are very important to this Venus. You have to be well groomed, too. He likes someone whom others will admire. If any Venus wants to show off a partner, it is this one. He holds himself to the same standard, if that is any help. He likes a glam girl, rather than the girl next door, who would appeal more to the Taurus Venus.

Venus in Virgo

This Venus looks for perfection. Watch out that he does not cheat when you show your less than perfect side. That is a major drawback with this Venus. They may put you on a pedestal, but when you fall off, they may not be able to see that you are human, not the divine goddess they had, previously, thought. This Venus likes refinement in the partner. He does not like coarse humor.He, also, is very, very sensitive to tastes and smells.

Venus in Libra

Venus in Libra is in it’s Home. Hence, it has some of the loveliest traits of any Venus. It is very refined and very well mannered. The partners he chooses must be the same. He does not like coarse jokes coming from his partner. He may utter obscenities, depending on the rest of the chart, but you should not. His personal taste in clothes is tailored and well made. He likes quality in clothes, home decor and his partners.

Venus in Scorpio

If any Venus would be attracted to a Goth, it would be this one. He likes all things dark and substantial. In furniture, he may like the dark, heavy woods. In clothes, he may like black everything. He is attracted to depth. However, this Venus is very, very sensitive to rejection, so please, bear that in mind. Venus in Scorpio takes break ups very hard, even though he, likely, would not let you know. I am telling you!

Venus in Sagittarius

This Venus likes to have fun, fun, fun and keep it light, light, light. If any Venus would run from commitment, it is this one. The men love legs, shoes and boots.This Venus likes adventure. He loves a partner with a good sense of humor. He is, surprisingly, moral, although you would not know that by his actions, usually. This Venus would like clothes and furnishings that are upbeat and have a “happy vibe”.

Venus in Capricorn

This Venus likes quality, quality, quality. If there is one Venus who would marry for prestige( and money), it is this one. Venus in Capricorn likes classic everything—from clothes to home decor. She will, always, look well dressed and “rich”, even if she shops at yard sales. Venus in Capricorn must respect those people in her life. If not, they will not remain in her life.

Venus in Aquarius

I don’t like many Aquarius placements, such as the Sun. I feel the Aquarius Suns tend to be pompous/holier than thou. However, Aquarius is wonderful in Venus and Mars. This Venus likes a partner who has her own life. He does not want a clinging vine: someone who makes her whole life about him. He wants an equal in every way(mostly, but that is a whole other story). Venus in Aquarius may dress like a hippie or with a kind of eccentric style. This seems to be more the case with the women than the men.
The way to trap this Venus is to be light in heart and have your own life. The way to lose him is to cling.

Venus in Pisces

This Venus is in the Exaltation. That means that he is a super star Venus. He is very poetic and romantic. He can make your heart beat faster with his words. My favorite Venus in Pisces guy know who he is, although he is mad at me, now *SIGH*. Come back, Dan!
Venus in Pisces is, unlikely, to play games when he is in love. He takes love seriously. He wants to bare his soul to you—-and a beautiful soul it is!

I have several articles on Mars, but I thought I would write a companion article to my recent one on Venus. To review, Venus is that which we find ATTRACTIVE. Mars is our manner of CHASING that which we find attractive. Hence, if we put Venus and Mars together, we can tell a lot about a person. The chart never lies. Know that. Breathe that. Live that! Those of us who understand astrology are very fortunate. We can understand the blueprint of every person we meet and of ourselves.

Mars in Aries

Mars loves to be in Aries.Aries and Scorpio are the Home for Mars. Everyone feels most comfortable in his own home and planets are no exception.Mars is all about ACTION. Mars in Aries is excellent at taking direct action to solve problems. An Aries Mars is very “cause” oriented. Once he feels called to fight a fight, so to speak, nothing stops him. He is the Don Quixote of modern times. Mars in Aries would be the one in the group who would stop bullying. He does not mind standing alone for his beliefs. Mars in Aries is a lovely place to have Mars and if this is yours, you are blessed.

Mars in Taurus

This Mars, likely, takes a long time to make a decision. He thinks out his actions. He is very practical. Once he does decide to act, he will stick with his original decision( even if it kills him) Mars in Taurus is loyal. If he marries you, he is, unlikely, to cheat. He may be good with his hands i.e carpentry and handyman work. My mother is a Mars in Taurus and she could fix anything in the house( except for electricity). She would spend all day taking apart the dryer to see what was wrong. I must have rebelled because I cannot put batteries in a flashlight. I am an earth void. We are not practical when it comes to the common sense earth bound situations. That goes to show how very different each person is from everyone else, even family members.

Mars in Gemini

I feel sorry for certain Gemini placements, such as the Moon and Mars. I am a Gemini Sun, Venus and Mercury. I understand the Gemini energy well. It is very high strung. It is very cerebral and intellectual, which is good in many ways, but has the drawback of being TOO “stuck in the head|”. I say this to say that the Moon and Mars do not like being in Gemini.With the Moon, it makes the person too restless. With Mars, the person may flit from thing to thing, not being able to commit. It is like there are so many shiny baubles that he cannot decide on which one to grab. Once he chooses one, he may get bored and want another. This pattern can persist, through no fault of his own.

Mars in Cancer

This is my dud Mars. I really do not like it. It is Mars in the Fall, so not a placement that works well. Mars is all about action. Mars in Cancer stuffs, stuffs, stuffs. Usually, Mars in Cancer stuffs things into her stomach. For example, instead of being angry, she will get a stomach ache. Each person has a few dud placements. House is, always, important. I have Mars in the 10th and I have, always, been ambitious and a go getter. However, I tend to be uncomfortable with “unacceptable” emotions, such as anger, rage and assertion/aggression. This is just the nature of the Cancer Mars.

Mars in Leo

Mars in Leo has great style. He can set a goal and stick to it. Whatever he does will be done with panache—-not too shabby. He may have to be the leader, or, if not, have his ideas be listened to with appreciation. He gets his feelings hurt rather easily, so be aware of that.
On the plus side, he loves to have fun and has an excellent sense of humor.

Mars in Virgo

This Mars May be so detailed oriented that he may get lost in the trees and miss the forest. Mars is not too happy in Virgo. One reason is that Virgo is a mutable sign. The other is that being so detail oriented(OCD) can make tasks very onerous.

Mars in Libra

This is the Fall position. Hence, Mars does not work well in Libra. Libra can be very wishy-washy. Mars likes direct action. Through no fault of his own, Libra Mars has a very hard time making up his mind and then taking direct and assertive action. Hence, we can see why poor ole Libra Mars is in the Fall.

Mars in Scorpio

Mars in Scorpio is in it’s Home. Hence, it functions very well. This is the very best placement for Mars, bar none. Mars in Scorpio guys are very sexy, even if they are not handsome. They have certain erotic vibes that emanate from them.They are go getters. They can take direct action when needed. The only time I have seen Mars in Scorpio weakened is when there is, also, Venus in Scorpio. That seems to render the person “stuck” due to very intense level of feeling. I have seen this apply when in love, not with respect to career or other such arenas.

Mars in Sagittarius

Sagittarius is mutable, so not the best place for the planet of action—Mars.This Mars, likely, seeks adventure and change in both career and relationships. His perfect job may be an airline pilot, who jets across the world and looks amazing in his uniform.

Mars in Capricorn

Mars is Exalted in Capricorn. Mars in Capricorn shines in the world of career, while Mars in Scorpio shines in the world of seduction, generally speaking. Mars in Capricorn has all the right moves when it comes to moving from the bottom of the company to the job. He is excellent at deferring gratification. He is excellent at “rising to the top—slow and steady”.

Mars in Aquarius

Aquarius is a fixed sign, so he can set a goal and work toward achieving it. He is very fair minded. He is open minded. He can make a commitment and stick to it, whether it be personal or career. Mars in Aquarius is a nice placement. I do not like Sun in Aquarius. I think they tend to be pompous. I do like Mars and Venus because they are open minded, but not too much so.

Mars in Pisces

Mars in Pisces is kind of a dud, as is Mars in Cancer. This dude does not have a lot of staying power, generally speaking. That is because Pisces is the sign of the dreamer. Mars is ACTION, as I said. This native tends to be dreamy and easily waylaid, as a rule.

My last article on Venus got me thinking, especially when people asked wonderful questions. YES, the Venus sign will be modified by aspects. Venus square Uranus will be afraid to commit. Venus conjunct Pluto will be very intense and jealous when in love. Venus square Neptune may see the partner in such an exalted form that she cannot see reality until she is married with two children. However, that being said, one must understand the nature of each Venus sign before one can move to more advanced Astrology, such as Venus aspects. In that spirit, let’s see if we can simplify the TASTES of each Venus. Venus is about tastes, likes, attractions/what we find PLEASING. It is very different for each person. To one person, a girl may be beautiful. To another, the same girl may be very average. This is sort of how Venus works, to take a very simple example. What I find attractive, you might find repugnant and vice-versa. Onto the Venus signs.

Venus in Aries

The most salient thing about this Venus is that it likes things that are full of adventure, speed, and high adrenaline. This Venus sign could fall in love with your picture if you seem like you are full of life and ready for adventure. This Venus would not be like Venus in Gemini, who wants to talk about books. Venus in Aries like a partner who seems full of life,full of vivacity. There is an interesting twist to this Venus. The men don’t like to chase, after the initial hard chase. The women like to chase, so know this if a Venus in Aries is on your radar. I have a funny story about a Venus in Aries guy. This guy acted like he had to have me or he would die. I was not really interested, but felt guilty. I thought I really was someone who could not be replaced *cough*.I had to tell him I was not interested. You gasp at this title. Well, there are certain aspects that are that detrimental that I would not start a relationship, even if the rest of the chart was stellar( or pristine). Some I have experienced personally. Some I have seen in clients. I do not like to write theoretical Astrology i.e writing about things that I have not experienced. However, one must do this because one cannot experience everything. However, I, always, have more confidence( and force) when I have been burned by the aspect *SIGH*

1.Chiron Conjunct the North Node

I was the North Node. He was the Chiron. I think the relationship is much more painful for the North Node person because the Chiron person BRINGS the pain. It is not as noticeable to him because he lives with it daily. I have to be blunt or why waste your time reading? In this case, there were so very, very lovely synastry aspects. My Ceres Conjunct his Sun, exact. We have some lovely Venus aspects. However, a life theme of pain is a life theme of pain. That is what I mean by a single aspect ruining an entire relationship. After this, I met a person who had an amazing synastry with me, including his having my Jag position—Mars in Scorpio. In this case, my Chiron was conjunct his North Node. I would never want to be that level source of pain for someone, so I walked away from the relationship before it really started. To me, you never, ever, ever, ever mess with the charts. I would allow an orb of up to 5 degrees.

2. Nessus Conjunct the North Node

I have not experienced this. However, I have seen Nessus play out in synastry enough times to know that it would bring a theme of abuse to the relationship. The Nessus person would bring the abuse to the North Node person. I would allow an orb of up to three degrees.

3.Nessus Conjunct the Sun

I was the Sun. Nessus is a fierce beast when he touches a personal planet or angle. The dude may be good with everyone else but will tear the flesh of you *sigh*. The Nessus person was driven to abuse me like a person bites into a Big Mac in a McDonald’s drive through.

4. Nemesis Conjunct the Moon

I really hate Nemesis. It is a secret enemy. Betrayal hurts soooo much worse when it is by an unexpected source. The Nemesis person will break the heart of the Moon person.

5. Nemesis Conjunct the North Node

Once again, the North Node conjunction will show us a theme. I don’t know who wants secret betrayal?

6. Pluto Square Mars

I would not run from a relationship with this in it B-U-T, there is, likely, going to be some level of very heated interactions. This is an aspect for violence. I don’t think actual violence has to take place, but it will, likely, be close, and likely, cross the line, at times. I would not run from this one aspect because I am not SURE it has to be that bad. I am not convinced the way I am about the others, but I could be wrong and it may, always, bode violence. I have not seen it enough to make that statement, though.
It is a very passionate aspect, too, so has that sexy fighting kind of thing *sigh*

7. No Moon Aspects in Synastry

If I saw that, that would be the end of the relationship for me. The Moon is the heart. People bond heart to heart. If I had to die by firing squad to say one aspect that could mitigate this, I would say Moon/Mercury in good aspect—conjunction, trine or sextile. However, it would have to be very close(1-3 degrees)

8. No Venus Aspects in Synastry

Venus is taste and a “liking” for something/someone. If there are no Venus aspects, there will not be an understanding of tastes. You would be surprised how many things factor into taste——- attraction to the “mannerisms” of the other person, clothes, tastes in activities, music likes and humor, for a few.

9. Bilk Conjunct the North Node

Bilk will play out. How could you marry someone and think they are waiting to take advantage of you? *Shudder*

10 Saturn in Synastry

Saturn is a true double edged sword. Saturn keeps people together like glue. However, in close conjunctions, oppositions or squares(1-4 degrees), the Saturn can break the gentle spirit of the planet person( Moon or Venus, for two examples) due to a constant, carping criticism. Venus and the Moon are very sensitive planets in the natal chart. The Moon is the heart. Venus is one’s love nature.

One would be a strongly sexual Mars, such as Scorpio.Pluto can make for a strong sex drive, particularly Pluto in aspect to Mars. The asteroids really show us the level of sexual drive. If a person has Lust conjunct the North Node, for example, watch out. The North Node is a VERY important point in the synastry chart. The NN calls one to one’s purpose, so if anything thwarts that, it does not bode well for the relationship. In this case, Uranus is the out of the box, creative genius planet. One person, the Uranus person, will somehow dampen/thwart the path for the NN person to find his goals. One bad aspect to the NN will not ruin a relationship, but people should know what they are dealing with, so that they can combat it, the best they can. What Is Your Honest To Goodness Opinion on the Twelfth House?

This is an excellent question. I will give as honest an opinion as I can. I have done thousands of charts and picked the brains of my beloved clients, whenever possible. This is what I think. The twelfth house is all about energy, as is all of Astrology. By energy, I mean that every planet, every house and every sigh has a certain, unique energy. It is not personal, such as one sign is bad and another is good or one house is bad and another is good. Each sign, house, planet and aspect has a unique energy. One must understand the energies in order to understand one’s chart and, hence, oneself.

One factor is the energy, as I cited above. The other is the expectations of society. Society calls one kind of person “good” and another “bad”. A cheerleader is “good’ and the quiet, unpopular kid is “bad”. Of course, The point is that the society judges people for certain traits, such as popularity, beauty and athletic prowess. If one does not measure up, society considers one lesser.

How does this relate to the Twelfth House? The Twelfth House person is not Miss Popularity, usually. The Twelfth House person is not Mr Big Man on Campus, usually. However, he has certain traits which are amazing and unique to him. Let’s discuss them.

This article has been a long time in the making. People ask me all the day if there is anything “good” about Nessus. I say no. Nessus is abuse. Is there anything good to abuse? However, after doing more charts, I have come to a new conclusion. That conclusion is that the so called “bad” asteroids can give strength. In this crazy world, one must be able to stand up for oneself. One will encounter bullying and abuse. It is the nature of life on the earth. The “bad” asteroids give a very strong self defense shield.

This would apply to both the natal and synastry. In the natal, if one has Nessus conjunct the Ascendant, North Node or MC, one would tend to be an abusive person. I will not renege from this. Nessus is the asteroid of abuse. However, one could defend oneself if one were abused. This would go for the asteroid Sado, as well. I cannot think of other abusive asteroids, at the moment. The two classic ones are Nessus and Sado.

In a synastry, if a woman were married to an abusive man( Moon square Mars, for example), if her Nessus conjunct his Moon, she would be a power broker in this relationship. Moon square Mars does not like women, in general. I cannot say he will be full fledged abusive. A better example would be a relationship with Pluto square Mars, which is an aspect of violence. If the woman had her Nessus conjunct the Sun or Moon of the man, she would be better able to hold her own.

People have asked me for this article, so here goes. The North Node is point in the chart showing PURPOSE. Each person feels he was called to some purpose . One will not feel satisfied until one finds one’s calling. The North Node is one of the major points in the natal chart showing purpose or calling. We will discuss planetary conjunctions here. However, note that hard aspects(squares, opposition and quincunx) from planets will make one’s purpose more difficult to ascertain. Easy aspects( trines, sextile and conjunctions) will make it easier to find one’s purpose. It is not one’s fault if one feels cast adrift. The concept of purpose is clearly shown in the natal chart, as is the difficulty or ease in attaining it.

North Node Conjunct the Sun

This fortunate native was made to shine. The native will, likely, learn the lessons of confidence and ego strength.

North Node Conjunct the Moon
This native will have great depth of soul and heart. His purpose is to show his heart to the world in some form or fashion. The person could be a loving mother or a poet. One would need to study the entire chart to see the specific gifts. However, this native will, likely, be gifted in the language of the heart.

This native is called to show his mind/intelligence/intellect to the world. The manifestation could be anything from an actor to a teacher. However, when one thinks of him, one will, likely, think of his mind and it’s gifts.

First of all, if you know me, you know that nothing gets me angrier than people who only want “good news” when it comes to their charts. Look around, Dude. Not everything is good. I like to live in the land of reality. If not, we are not sane. This applies to the charts, too. Some aspects are major challenges. These are our topic today.

The North Node is a point that shows our purpose. It is a very, very important point in the natal chart. The ease or difficulty in finding one’s calling will be shown by the North Node and it’s aspects. I am talking about the conjunction today. The conjunction is the strongest aspect. However, to address the other aspects briefly. Trines and sextiles to the NN show ease in finding one’s purpose. Squares and oppositions to the North Node show difficulty in finding one’s calling. Onto the article.

First of all, there are “bad” aspects.These deal with “bad” things in life, such as abuse(Nessus), sadism(Sado), taking advantage of others(Bilk), not telling the truth(Lie) and victimization(Dejanira). The preceding list are just some examples. They show us slices of life that no one really likes. Every person has every asteroid in his chart. The difference is the DOMINANCE of an asteroid.

Let’s look at what are deemed the “bad” asteroids conjunct the North Node.

Nessus Conjunct the North Node
In this case, the native will, likely, struggle with the desire to abuse. On the positive side, I see Nessus as someone who won’t let himself be victimized. If I had to choose to have Nessus conjunct the North Node or Dejanira( the victim asteroid) conjunct the North Node, I would choose Nessus. However, the Nessus/North Node native will, likely, be someone who makes people angry and makes others desire to seek revenge. There is something about a strong Nessus that makes aware people steer clear due to a subconscious understanding that trouble lies beneath the surface.

Dejanira Conjunct the North Node

Dejanira is, probably, the saddest asteroid of all. She is the victim. I have seen the victim theme play out over and over in my career as an astrologer. This victimization is not the fault of the native. I think that God can overcome charts. However, usually, the person has to play out their difficult patterns i.e get burned by them. For the person with Dejanira conjunct the North Node, I am sure I am not telling them anything they do not know. Most people are happy to discover that their struggles are not their fault, but due to their life blueprint, which is the natal chart.

Sedna Conjunct the North Node

Sedna is extreme betrayal by the father and, later, the husband. Sedna is a very sad story. For the native with Sedna conjunct the North Node, I don’t think what I am saying right now is a surprise. She needs to understand what happened before she can move on. I have an article which tells the story of Sedna. Please, read that, if you want the specific details of her story.

Bilk Conjunct the North Node

Bilk is what you think. It is taking advantage of others for material gain. This is not stealing from the cash register as much as charging too much for a service. This asteroid shows a tendency to take advantage of all people in the life of the native. I have a friend with Bilk conjunct the Sun. I like many things about him, but I do not trust him to do any jobs for me, even though he has a business which does the kind of work I need. If I ever need his services, I contract a price from the beginning and know, even then, that I will be taken advantage of. I tell this story to show the practical workings of the Bilk asteroid. For the native who has Bilk conjunct the North Node, bilking people is, likely, a life theme. I know people will get angry when I say this, but read an airy fairy astrologer if you don’t like me.

Nemesis Conjunct the North Node
Nemesis is hidden enemies. This is not a very pleasant thing. Hence, the native may have people come into one’s life that seem like friend, but undermine. If you have Nemesis conjunct the North Node, this is, probably, not a surprise to you.

Eris Conjunct the North Node

I may conjure up my friend, Dan, with this entry. He and I disagree about Eris. He thinks Eris is a brave and fearless warrior. I think Eris is extreme annoyance. I will give to Dan that Eris will fight for that in which he believes. However, Eris is so annoying that he can win the fight just because people want him to leave. I have found that people who have Eris conjunct the North Node are sooooo annoying that you have to hold your arm back, so that you do not hit them in the face. Do I jest? Not really.

Chiron Conjunct the North Node

Chiron is not an asteroid, but I will include it here because it is very hard to have Chiron conjunct the North Node. Chiron brings a theme of pain. No one wants this or chooses this. Remember that degrees are very important when dealing with the North Node. The closer the aspect, the more intense.

Medusa Conjunct the North Node

Medusa is a tease. I really don’t like to see Medusa in the charts because I don’t like this asteroid. It seems to play out, just as the myth decrees. Medusa teases men to follow her and then she punishes them. We have all seen women like this. Medusa is, likely, the culprit. To answer the question of how she plays out in the chart of a male? It seems to be in the same way.

Typhoon Conjunct the North Node

Lately, I have seen this asteroid play out in charts. It acts as does a natural typhoon. The life of the person seems to be chaotic and out of control, through little fault of their own.

Kaali Conjunct the North Node

Kaali is the body energies. Kaali does not do well when it is in a dominant place, such as the Ascendant, MC or North Node. The body energy should be in a deeper, more internal place. When Kaali conjuncts an exterior part of the chart, the native seems to lose energy easily i.e feel very drained by people and events.

Nessus is the asteroid of abuse. I cannot cover all of the wonderful aspects to the North Node in one article, but I will make a start. I think my client wanted me to put them in order, but I really cannot. It would be like putting your favorite books in order. Each one is different. I love “The Bell Jar” by Sylvia Plath and I love “The Stand” by Stephen King. I could not pick a favorite because they are so very different in their substance and essence.

1. Moon Conjunct the NN

The Moon is one’s heart. To have a relationship in which one’s heart is at the center is about the best thing there is. The Moon person brings his heart to the relationship, but, of course, this is excellent for both people.

Aries

This native may be very competitive. He may be someone who ACTS first and thinks later, not the best trait. However, he may be blessed with confidence and courage in his own opinions.

Taurus

His thinking may be on the slow side. I do not mean “slow” in the sense of a low IQ. I mean it in the sense of weighing options and making wise choices. Taurus is a grounded and centered sign. His opinions are likely well considered before he opens his mouth. He may be the least likely sign to speak first and repent later.

This Mercury seems rather rare. I don’t know if this is the case or if my clients do not have it. However, Mercury in Cancer would be someone who thinks very deeply about his home and family. His interests are, likely, ones that revolve around home and hearth, such as cooking, home decorating and parenting. Anything Cancer is very loyal, so he will, likely, be a loyal person.

This is the Detriment position for Mercury. I am not sure why, other than that this Mercury may rather be out throwing a football than reading. He may want to EXPERIENCE life, rather than think about it.

This native will, likely, be driven for success. He will, likely, be able to set long term goals and meet them “inch by inch”. If he starts out at night school, before too long he will be in law school.

Aquarius

Pisces
