I got this question from a lovely lady.
I am going to be honest.
I find these aspects sad.
I have had several clients with them.
The harder is the Grand Cross.
One person, in particular, broke my heart.
He was so gifted. He was one of the top yoga teachers. He was beautiful. He looked like an angel.
His chart was sooo very hard.
The Grand Cross is a grand kind of thwarting.
He did have blessings, as all charts do.
He was very charming.
He had my favorite charm aspect–Moon trine Mars.
However, that Grand Cross broke him until he became a shell of a person.
I tried to talk to him about God.
God can overcome any chart, but he was not interested.
Let’s talk about the T square and Grand Cross, in detail. What are they? How do they function?
The T square is two squares and an opposition. The opposition is much easier of an aspect than the square.
A square, in general, it is an OBSTACLE, a THWARTING.
We need to see the planets and the houses to see in which domains of life and in personality parts is the native thwarted.
Let’s give an example of the T square.
Let’s say the native has Moon conjunct the Ascendant in Libra square Venus in Cancer in the tenth House and Mars in Aries in the seventh house. Then, let’s add Chiron in Capricorn in the forth House.
In this case, the native wears her heart on her sleeve, due to Moon conjunct the Ascendant.. However, with the Libra Moon, the heart struggles due to the sign of Libra, which may make for a high level of indecision.
The Libra Moon is, also, a cold Moon, due to the nature of Libra, which is not so much about affectionate warm fuzzies and hugs, as it is about justice.
The Venus in Cancer would present challenges to the Libra Moon because the native would love domestic things like home cooking and providing a warm nest for family and friends. The Libra Moon would be more intellectually inclined than “touchy-feely”, as is Venus in Cancer.
Mars in Aries is a go getter. The seventh house placement would show us a native who wants to be married. This may be a strong life goal.
Chiron in the fourth house will show us pain in early childhood. The mother, most likely was the root of the pain.
With the T square, we look at planets as presenting obstacles to each other, as well as the houses providing obstacles to each other.
It is complicated.
Let me talk more about the planets here.
Moon square Venus may be a person who holds back her love nature. She may hold back showing how loving she is, due to fear of looking silly being rejected or being taken advantage of.
Moon oppose Mars is a native who may feel estranged from her own feminine nature and may have a hard time forming relationships with woman.
Moon square Chiron may be someone whose mother hurt her deeply. She may have stuffed this pain. It may emerge as depression or other issues, in which emotional pain is the root.
The difference between the T square and the Grand Cross is an additional opposition.
IF Venus in Cancer opposed the Chiron in the 4th, we would have a Grand Cross.
There would be the Moon square Venus, the Moon square Chiron, the Moon oppose Mars and Venus square Mars.
I feel kind of adrift in that I may not have answered the question.
Perhaps, it is too long of a question to answer in one article, but I will put it out there for your consideration and , hopefully, comments!
